Internship / Fixed term for up to 6 months / Full Time (40 hours per week)
This post is open to several candidate intakes during 2026:
1 intern to start in may May
1 intern to start 1st of September
Depending on candidate pool, we might consider hiring another intern 1st of Feb 2027
Location: Based in the Netherlands. Candidates should be already living in or able to quickly relocate to the Netherlands (at own cost), and have a Dutch social security number (BSN), or should be able to obtain Dutch residence permit and BSN on short notice. The P&C Employee Experience Intern at Greenpeace International (GPI) will contribute to the development and execution of the tasks of the Employee Experience Team. This role will focus on actively supporting employee lifecycle steps and delivering employee experience-focused projects. You will be part of the GPI People & Culture department, working within the Employee Experience team, and reporting to the Employee Experience Team Lead.
The Employee Experience team plays a pivotal role in executing all employee processes and systems throughout the employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding to development and progression. The team collaborates with GPI staff, hiring managers, and line managers to ensure a positive employee experience at every stage.
In this role, you will work on:
Project Support (50% of the time)
Help clean and organize HR data across various spreadsheets and systems to ensure our records are consistent and up-to-date.
Assist in mapping out "how we do things" by talking to the team and writing down current administrative steps that aren't yet documented.
Identify gaps or differences in how tasks are currently handled and help the team decide on a standard way of working.
Update or create new "how-to" guides and flowcharts for common HR tasks to make onboarding future team members easier.
Support the transition of manual records into our digital systems, keeping an eye out for missing information or duplicates along the way.
Support the migration of legacy records into updated information management systems, ensuring data integrity and high-quality documentation for future users.
Note: above mentioned project work is outlined for May 2026 intake. Next internship intakes might have somewhat different project focus, to be decided closer to date, and discussed with the intern at the start of their internship.
On the Job Learning and Development (50% of the time)
Support recruitment coordination activities, including candidate and staff communications.
Assist in the onboarding of new employees and interns.
Help resolve employee experience support tickets related to Amsterdam-based staff benefits administration.
Assist in managing freelance agreements administration.
Ensure HR systems remain up to date.
Support the Employee Experience team in fulfilling data and information requests.
Contribute to team meetings, providing feedback on assigned tasks.
Take full responsibility for delegated tasks and work cooperatively with team members and interns.

A degree or coursework in HR, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field, or equivalent experience
Interest in HR & Employee Experience, with motivation to develop knowledge and gain experience to support your studies or future career.
Some prior knowledge or experience in recruitment, employee experience, or HR administration is beneficial but not required.
Digital literacy skills; the ability to learn and utilise our digital platforms to successfully perform the role function (familiarity with G-Suite, Slack and Zoom is an advantage)
Interest in employee communications, engagement, visual communications, and presentations.
Comfortable with remote work, showing discretion and respect for confidentiality.
Organised with great attention to detail.
Ability to work both independently and within a team.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to take initiative and independently develop project deliverables.
Open to learning new skills and receptive to feedback.
Multicultural competence and understanding of and commitment to diversity
‘Can do’, flexible approach, friendly and people-focused, even when working in a fast moving, sometimes chaotic environment
Ability to act with discretion, and respectful of confidentiality
Proficiency in written and spoken English.

The fine print:
An Internship is intended for students, graduates or young professionals who have less than 12 months of working experience in the field of internship focus.
Interns are entitled to 800 euros net as a monthly stipend (40 hours per week).
The Greenpeace International office in Amsterdam is open and available for working. A combination of remote (within the Netherlands) and from the office work is possible and is the most common way of working. Interns are encouraged to be in office as much as possible to ensure good internship experience.
Interns receive a 5 euro per day meal allowance, and public transportation costs to office (2nd class) are reimbuirsed.
