The Greenpeace International (GPI) Finance Unit is at the heart of our global mission, ensuring that every Euro contributed by our supporters is managed with integrity, transparency, and strategic precision. We provide the financial expertise and technical rigor necessary to fuel the fight against environmental destruction and strengthen human rights across the globe.

Our Senior Accountant is a pivotal role within the International Finance team. You will be a technical expert and a hands-on practitioner, working closely with the Financial Controller to ensure the integrity of our global financial data. From managing complex National and Regional Office (NRO) transactions to producing high-level Annual Financial Statements, you will act as a key "sparring partner" on technical accounting issues. You will be a central point of contact for the Global Finance community, ensuring that our financial systems support the evolving needs of a high-pressure, international campaigning network.

We are looking for a candidate who combines professional accounting mastery with a proactive, structured approach. You are someone who can navigate the complexities of IFRS while translating financial data into meaningful insights for stakeholders. Experience in a multi-cultural, global environment is essential, as you will be the primary finance business partner for teams across the world.

In this role you will focus on:

  1. Processes, Policies, and Procedures:

  • Proactively improve internal controls and processes to safeguard Greenpeace resources while staying agile.

  • Ensure financial policies are comprehensive, up-to-date, and effectively communicated through training materials for staff across GPI.

  1. Technical Financial Support:

  • Lead the financial accounting function for NRO-related monthly, quarterly, and year-end activities.

  • Ensure all NRO postings and recharges are accurate, reconciled, and delivered on a timely basis.

  • Act as the main Finance Business Partner for the Global Finance teams, articulating solutions for technical accounting challenges.

  1. Year-End Financial Statements:

  • Work alongside the Financial Controller and Finance Manager to ensure a smooth audit process and the timely delivery of Annual Financial Statements.

  • Take total responsibility for specific sections of the GPI statements and standalone Stichtingen (Foundation) financial statements.

  • Ensure compliance with IFRS SME and the Dutch Civil Code.

  1. Strategic Support:

  • Support the annual budget process in collaboration with the Management Accountant and Financial Controller.

  • Act as a backfill for the Finance Manager and Financial Controller when required.
