The User Experience Research Intern at Greenpeace International (GPI) will contribute to the development and execution of the tasks & projects of the Planet 4 Team.

Internship / Fixed term for up to 6 months / Full Time (40 hours per week)
Location: Based in the Netherlands. Candidates should already live in or be able to relocate quickly to the Netherlands (at their own cost), and have a Dutch social security number (BSN) or be able to obtain a Dutch residence permit and BSN on short notice. Greenpeace International (GPI) is looking for a User Experience Research Intern to help discover the needs of our users. You will assist the design and development team by gathering insights and supporting research activities that inform our digital fundraising and campaigning tools. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in UX research, learn about working in a global organization, and contribute to projects done by Greenpeace International and the national and regional offices worldwide. This internship is designed to help you grow your skills and gain real-world experience in UX research.
The Planet 4 Team is responsible for maintaining and designing Planet 4, a CMS tool used by many National / Regional Organisations as their primary web presence. The team oversees 52 websites in total, in 36 different languages. This team sits within Greenpeace’s Technology Department which delivers technology and data solutions that enable the Greenpeace network to win campaigns and to support an effective and efficient global organisation through the massive strategic uplift of that technology.
In this role, you will focus on:
Project Support (50% of the time)
User interviews and Usability testing support
Creating and further developing User Personas
Survey creation and results analysis
Research documentation and summarizing information
Researching user behaviors
On the Job Learning and Development (50% of the time)
Embodying the user’s perspective in the day to day
Assess how designs and features align with users’ needs throughout their journey
Advise on and support the selection of user testing methods and tools.
Presenting research insights to the team and stakeholders
Observe User behavior through recordings and provide actionable findings

A degree or coursework in Design education: e.g., human-computer interaction, sociology, psychology, web design, or equivalent, with motivation to develop knowledge and gain experience to support your studies or future career
Some prior knowledge or experience in UX Research and/or Wordpress is beneficial but not required
Digital literacy skills; the ability to learn and utilise our digital platforms to successfully perform the role function (familiarity with G-Suite, Slack and Zoom is an advantage)
Comfortable working remotely and collaborating in multicultural environments
Organised with great attention to detail
Ability to work both independently and within a team
Ability to craft and communicate engaging data-driven solutions to stakeholders and product teams
Ability to take initiative and independently develop project deliverables
Open to learning new skills and receptive to feedback
Proficiency in written and spoken English
Alignment with and understanding of JEDIS (Justice, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Safety) values
Demonstrable support for and belief in the Greenpeace network core aims and values

Fine print & compensation:
Interns are entitled to a €800 net monthly stipend (40 hours per week)
Interns receive 5 euro per work day meal vouchers on top of their stipend
The Greenpeace International office is based in Surinameplein 118, Amsterdam. A combination of remote (within the Netherlands) and from the office work is possible and is the most common way of working. Interns are encouraged to be in office as much as possible to ensure good internship experience.
An Internship is intended for students, graduates or young professionals who have less than 12 months of working experience in the field of internship focus
